Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
The statement noted debris landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
