A campaign is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign hopes to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Chance for Support and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

“It has a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”

Production History and Contributing Musicians

The track was produced in the wake of a major charity concert held in late summer. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.

The impressive roster of musicians contributing to Lullaby encompasses a selection of prominent voices from the scene. All took part in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Lullaby was produced by a group of producers and composers. The track showcases a fusion of the heritage language with new English lyrics.

The group managing the campaign have clarified that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We aim for as much as possible. Of course, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”

The context in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings described as destroyed or damaged.

“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing that another narrative exists.”
